Zigzag chair
The Zigzag chair ( Dutch : Zigzagstoel ) was designed in 1932 by the Dutch designer Gerrit Thomas Rietveld .
The zigzag chair has a high seat without armrests and is originally made of solid cherry wood panels 18 mm thick, glued with a dovetail joint . The chair has a seat height of 43 centimeters. It was manufactured from 1934 to 1970 by the Dutch furniture factory GA Van de Groenekan in Amsterdam . The Italian furniture manufacturer Cassina SpA has had a manufacturing license since 1971 . Cassina manufactures the chair in natural polished cherry wood, in natural ash wood or ash wood stained blue, red, yellow, white, black, with edging in natural ash wood.
A model of the zigzag chair has been in the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) and the German Vitra Design Museum since 1966 .
