Brick hut (desert, hostage wind)
Ziegelhütte is a deserted area in the Geiselwind market in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The workshop yard was demolished in the 20th century. The operation was probably no longer profitable.
Geographical location
The former brickworks is located in what is now the Geiselwind market. It was located approx. 600 m south of the market square between the Ebrach and the federal highway 3 . Parts of the truck stop were probably built on the site. The Geiselwinder Altort is located north of the deserted site, and the motorway access is to the east. To the west, separated by the federal motorway, is Langenberg .
history
Ziegelhütte is a common place name. It refers to the place where bricks were made. The suffix -hütte comes from Middle High German and means a covered workshop. The Geiselwinder brickworks was first mentioned in 1752. At that time, Jacob Denitz appeared in the Geiselwinder parish book , who was "laterarius" (brickworker) "in the brickworks". The Ziegelacker appeared as a field name around 1835 . The Ziegelwiese and Ziegelhütten-Wiese, which were probably all grouped around the workshop, were also called that. The brick huts operated by the towns or leased to private individuals were mostly closed after the First World War because production was no longer profitable. The Geiselwinder brickworks was demolished by the 1950s at the latest.
