geography
course
Source and upper course
The Reiche Ebrach rises on the steep western flank of the Steigerwald , northeast of Ebersbrunn , in the Lower Franconian community of Geiselwind . The source is located on the 475 meter high Katzenberg in the northern part of the low mountain range at an altitude of approx. 460 meters. After the source, the body of water, which until now resembles a ditch, flows down the steep mountain, where it soon crosses the town of Ebersbrunn . From here the river continues south. In between he passes small ponds that the river fills with water. Then the rich Ebrach leaves the administrative district of Lower Franconia for a short time towards Upper Franconia . Already in Füttersee , the Reiche Ebrach is already a large brook due to the many smaller trenches that have flowed in. It now runs further south. After about 15 km the river has already lost about 150 meters in altitude. The Ebrach flows into the river to the east of Geiselwind . The merged river changes its flow direction and now runs in an easterly direction.
Middle course
Thereupon many smaller streams such as B. the welding stream from the north and the Lohmühlbach from the south in the realm of Ebrach. After a few more kilometers, the river runs between the towns of Aschbach and Heuchelheim . Approx. 1 km from the village of Rambach, another important tributary, the Sambach, flows into the Reiche Ebach, which continues eastwards. The river then crosses the town of Schlüsselfeld and the Thüngfeld district . East of the urban area, the Haslach, the most important tributary, flows into the flowing water. From there, the river continues eastward. At the height of Wachenroth, the Eckersbach joins it when coming from the north. Other smaller streams and ditches flow into the river between the places Wachenroth and Mühlhausen.
Lower course
The Reiche Ebrach then flows through many meadows and fields and is repeatedly fed by smaller ditches from both the north and the south. The Stöckleinsbach flows into the river from the north between Steppach and Pommersfelden . Thereupon the Reiche Ebrach flows in a northeasterly direction past the places Sambach and Wind. In the increasingly flatter landscape, the gradient is getting smaller and the water loses speed as the river becomes more curvy with increasing kilometers. Then the places Röbersdorf and Erlach are crossed and then coming from the west it flows into the Regnitz.

Catchment area
The catchment area of the Reiche Ebrach with a total area of approx. 300 square kilometers and a circumference of approx. 85 kilometers is limited in the north by the watershed to the Rauhen and Mittleren Ebrach and in the south by the watershed to the Aisch. It is drained through them via the Regnitz, the Main and the Rhine to the North Sea.
Tributaries
The respective length and catchment area of the respective tributary as well as its place of mouth and its mouth height are given. Other sources for the information are noted. The first two values were usually measured, only in the four cases of tributaries with a complete water code number (GKZ), i.e. without a question mark at the end, official information could be used. Other sources for the information are noted.
