The rich Ebrach flows through the church village . The place is surrounded by arable land and grassland with a few trees. Approx. The Gleißenberg ( 342  m above sea level ) rises 1.5 km to the southwest .

history

The place was probably created during the colonization of Würzburg. This is indicated by the feudal claims (e.g. old tithe rights) of the Würzburg monastery , which it was able to assert until 1688. Essentially, the feudal claims were transferred to the Bamberg Monastery . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1217. The defining word of the place name is the personal name of the founder, Eliso. This document confirmed that the Bamberg bishop Ekbert von Andechs-Meranien gave the Michelsberg monastery the bailiff over the place. In 1293 the Bishop of Bamberg assigned the bailiwick over fiefdom to the Lords of Thünfeld , and in 1341 finally the fiefdom over a hoof . The fiefdom was converted into a castle hat fief . Another fiefdom holder was the Counts of Castell , as can be seen from a document from 1442. In the middle of the 15th century, the Nuremberg patricians Rieter were also wealthy in the village. In 1553 the place was sacked in the Second Margrave War. In 1690 a schoolmaster was first attested in the village. In 1688 there were 16 properties in the village that were subordinate to the Würzburg office of Schlüsselfeld . In the same year these were exchanged for the Bamberg Monastery.

At the end of the 18th century there were 41 properties in Elsendorf. The high court exercised the Bamberg center Wachenroth . The village and community rulership was held by the Bamberg caste office Wachenroth . The landlords were the bishopric of Bamberg ( Kastenamt Höchstadt : 3 estates, 1 little house and box office Wachenroth: 6 courtyards, 3 farms, 2 inns, 1 tavern, 1 mill, 1 brick factory, 19 Sölden , 2 little shepherds' houses), the Michelsberg monastery ( box office Gremsdorf : 1 farm) and the Weingartsgreuth manor (1 estate). In 1800 there were 34 Bamberg subject families in the village.

In 1802 Elsendorf came to Bavaria . As part of the community edict in 1808 that was tax district Elsendorf made to the Güntersdorf , laughter , Poss Felden and Reumann wind belonged. In the same year the rural community Elsendorf was formed, which was congruent with the tax district. In administration and jurisdiction it was subordinate to the regional court of Höchstadt and in financial administration to the Rent Office of Höchstadt . In voluntary jurisdiction, a property was subject to the Patrimonial Court of Weingartsgreuth (until 1848). From 1862 Elsendorf was administered by the district office of Höchstadt an der Aisch (renamed the district of Höchstadt an der Aisch in 1938 ) and continued to be administered by the Rentamt Höchstadt (1920–1929: Finanzamt Höchstadt , from 1929: Finanzamt Forchheim ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Höchstadt until 1879, 1880–1959 district court of Höchstadt , from 1959 district court of Forchheim . The community originally had an area of 17.619 km². After 1950, but before 1961, an area was ceded, so that the area was reduced to 15.052 km².

On May 1, 1978, the municipality of Elsendorf was incorporated into the town of Schlüsselfeld as part of the regional reform . The former Reumannswind district was finally assigned to the Wachenroth market on January 1, 1982 .
