Stappenbach is part of the municipality of the Burgebrach market in the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg .

geography

The parish village is about 4.5 km east of Burgebrach an der Rauhen Ebrach . To the south of the village is the 325 meter high Scheibenberg. Neighboring towns are Abtsdorf, Vorra and Hundshof in the east, Tempelsgreuth and Küstersgreuth in the south-west, and Untereuse, Ober- and Unterharnsbach in the north-west.

history

Stappenbach was first mentioned in 1317 as "Stackenbach". The term comes from Starkloff or Starkolf , abbreviated Stacco ago. Then Heinrich Zeirner sold the Ebracher Abbot Eberhard one Sölde to Abtsdorf and the mill to Stapp Bach.

The sub-settlement Fesselsberg (also Fesselsburg, Vesselsburg), mentioned in 1303 as a desert, lay on the southern slope of the Scheibenberg and was destroyed by fire.

In 1904 Stappenbach received a train station on the Strullendorf – Ebrach line . Passenger traffic was stopped in 1961, freight traffic ended in 1999.

Before the municipal reform , Stappenbach was an independent municipality without any other districts. In 1972 it was incorporated into Burgebrach.
