Right tributaries Middle Ebrach

The Rauhe Ebrach is a 47.3  km long, western and left tributary of the Regnitz in northern Bavaria in the Lower Franconian districts of Schweinfurt and Haßberge and then the Upper Franconian district of Bamberg .

It flows from the Wustvieler Forst through an exclave of the municipality of Michelau in the Steigerwald (both in the district of Schweinfurt) and then in an east-south-east to east through the municipality of Rauhenebrach (in the district of Haßberge) and through the municipality of Schönbrunn in the Steigerwald , where it is also the municipality-free area Lindach touches, through Markt Burgebrach and the communities Frensdorf and Pettstadt (all districts of Bamberg), where it finally reaches the Regnitz.

etymology

The name Ebrach goes back to a time when wild boars still lived on the Eberbach . The addition rauh distinguishes the more sloping and wilder of the two Eberbach from the Reichen Ebrach .

geography

Source and top run

The Rauhe Ebrach rises in the northwest of the Steigerwald Nature Park near the somewhat confused border between the Schweinfurt and Haßberge districts. Its top source lies between the hamlet of Neuhausen, which belongs to Michelau, in the north and the village of Geusfeld, which belongs to Rauhenebrach, in the south, a little below the western edge of the Wustvieler forest , in the hillside forest Schweinsgrube at 447  m above sea level. Above sea level.

From here the river runs west-southwest about one kilometer long straight down the slope turns into accomplished Aue immediately to the south and then decreases to almost 340  m height from right equal to another headwaters in Tallaufrichtung by Ebracher meadows of close to Neuhausen on. This brook, which in the upper course near the spring falls partly dry and otherwise flows more unsteadily, is even a little longer than the Rauhe Ebrach up to this point and has a pronounced valley between the Wustvieler Forst on the left and the Vollberg ( 456.7  m ) on the right. A few steps later, the shorter Dürrangenbach flows from the left, parallel to the upper slope of the Rauhen Ebrach , whose source is 424  m .

Upper course

The combined river runs through a short valley forest bar, in which it leaves the district of Schweinfurt and enters the district of Haßberge and feeds four ponds approx. 300 m after the district boundary. Immediately afterwards the Vogeltränkbach flows from the left, whereupon the Rauhe Ebrach at the Rauhenebracher Gut Waldschwind on the state road 2274 turns roughly to the east, a direction that it will maintain from now on.

Still under its Wendesporn Grasberg ( 432.8  m ) it feeds another pond and takes on the Mönchshofbach from the right , in the following Rauhenebrach- Geusfeld from the same direction the Spreubach . In the next suburb of Wustviel , the already noticeably longer Oesbach flows from the left and from the middle of the Wustvieler forest, and from the right the Seitzbach .

Middle course

Then Rauhenebrach- Untersteinbach lies in a valley spider into which the Schmerbach flows from the right and the Steinbach from the left, which is fed by three stream valleys that meet shortly before . Immediately after the village the Aumühle is on a left mill ditch. This is followed by Theinheim , where the shoulder creek flows from the left and the Erlenbach creek a little outside the right . The Kehlingsbach flows from the right between Falsbrunn and Prölsdorf , after which a longer Mühlkanal branches off immediately to the left, which only flows again from the same side in the village shortly before the inlet of the Heinzleinsbach ; At the sewage treatment plant below, the Rotbach runs from the right to the district boundary. Shortly after leaving the Steigerwald Nature Park, the Rauhe Ebrach leaves the municipality of Rauhenebrach in the Haßberge district and enters the Schönbrunn municipality in the Steigerwald of the Bamberg district.

Here is equal Half village on the left foot of the slope, before the following Zettmannsdorf the channel branches millstream left, steps further flows from the right valley of the Lindachbächleins , further flows in parallel at a right Auengraben and even from also tapering from a southern valley bodies Instead stream is crossed , before the Mühlbach flows back below the village , immediately afterwards the Virnbach flows from the left and then opposite Oberneuses the Lindachbächlein reaches the Rauhe Ebrach. A Mühlkanal also runs towards the main town of Schönbrunn, this time at the right, southern foot of the slope, which reaches the Rauhe Ebrach again at the village road bridge, shortly afterwards the Gruber Bach from the north. At Niederndorf at the right foot of the hill passes an alluvial ditch, which only joins after crossing the municipal boundary to Burgebrach before Ampferbach .

Between this village and Dietendorf directly opposite on the north side, the Diedenbach (!) Flows from the left , behind both and again from the left the Gallersbach and the Eschenbach . The Sauerwiesengraben , which reaches the floodplain on the same side on the outskirts of Grasmannsdorf , does not flow here, but continues as a left parallel ditch, which here even takes in the water from a ditch running parallel to the right since Ampferbach via a culvert. Immediately afterwards, the largest tributary flows from the right at a height of around 265  m , the Mittlere Ebrach , about 25 km long and previously flowing through Burgebrach , from which a left side ditch flows into the culvert.

Lower course

Below this confluence often side ditches running to the river that now often meadows meander shows and Altwasserabschnitten lined. In Untereuses there is a Mühlkanal on the right, past the Unterharnsbach , which is slightly offset on the slope opposite, the Fischersbachl flows , before the Stappenbach , which borders the bank on the right again, the Bauerngraben , after the settlement near the municipality border to Frensdorf the Heiligenbachl , both from the right.

The Birkacher Graben flows between the merged towns of Abtsdorf and Vorra on the left bank . Along the state road 2254, which crosses the river at the height of Frensdorf itself, the Reutherseegraben flows from the north , then the Seebach flows through the village from opposite . The Reundorf district is again on the left slope.

muzzle

After crossing the municipality marker, the river still flows north-east past Pettstadt on the right bank and then flows into the Regnitz main tributary coming from the south-east at a height of around 240  m .

Neighboring rivers

Less than four kilometers southeast and upstream the Reiche Ebrach flows into the Regnitz, less than three quarters of a kilometer further north and downstream the Aurach , both also from the left and with a very similar flow direction.

fauna

The following animal species can be found in the Rauen Ebrach: eels , graylings , barbel , trout , crayfish , pike , carp , nasal and tench .
