Geographical location

Neuhausen is located in the far east of the Michelau municipality. The community-free area of the state forest of Hundelshausen in the Schweinfurt district begins to the north , while the Wustvieler forest begins in the east . The Wustvieler forest can also be found in the south. The Michelau district of Prüßberg rises further to the west, from which a road leads to Michelau itself. The Aubach / Volkach tributary Holzbach flows through Neuhausen.

history

The history of Neuhausen is closely linked to that of the Zabelstein . The village was founded as a so-called late clearing "to the new houses". The residents of the Zabelsteiner hamlet near Neuhof are to be addressed as the settlers. In 1618 Neuhausen was given by the Echter von Mespelbrunn to the Hochstift Würzburg . Neuhausen already had its own drinking water supply in the 15th century, and hollowed-out pine trunks served as pipes. They weren't replaced until 1959.

Attractions

In addition to several architectural monuments, Neuhausen also has a nature trail in the "Klein Engelein" corridor. However, the center of the settlement is the small chapel . It was created around 1900 and was built from sandstone blocks. It has a polygonal choir , a roof turret has been added. Inside, the neo-Gothic furnishings of the time of construction predominate, in 1974 the chapel was renovated. There is also a wayside shrine from 1501 on the road to Prüßberg.
