Geographical location

Neuhof is located in the far north of the Michelau municipality. The Hundelshausen state forest begins to the north, and the Zabelstein mountain is closest to Neuhof. The community-free area Hundelshausen also begins to the east. In the south, also separated by a branch of the state forest, the Michelau district of Heinachshof can be found. Altmannsdorf rises in the south-west, while in the west the municipality of Donnersdorf begins with the district of Traustadt . The Franconian Marienweg leads through Neuhof .

history

The history of Neuhof was shaped for a long time by the lords of Zabelstein Castle. Initially, the Lords of Scherenberg sat here before the castle complex fell to the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg in the 14th century . In the immediate vicinity of the Neuhof were the so-called Zabelsteiner Höfe, which are now abandoned. These farms were also dependent on the gentlemen on the Zabelstein and were given up after 1842.

Attractions

Despite its small size, the Neuhof has a large number of architectural monuments. The center of the village is the Catholic St. Anna Chapel . It was built around 1900 and ends with a polygonal choir . A small roof ridge was attached to it. There is also a fountain in the central village square. It comes from the 18th century and has a small well house.

A wayside shrine was built in 1701 and can be found in the "Ebene" corridor. His essay was decorated with a representation of Christ as judge of the world. Several cellar vaults and a cistern have been preserved from the Zabelsteiner Höfe . They are to be assigned to the early modern period.
