history
Until 2008 the freight traffic was operated entirely by the Rurtalbahn GmbH . In 2008 it was decided to outsource freight transport from Rurtalbahn GmbH and to found a new company. In October 2010, the then company called Rurtalbahn Cargo GmbH was founded with headquarters in Aachen. One year after it was founded, the Belgian transport company Trainsport AG joined Rurtalbahn Cargo and expanded the company to Belgium under the name RTB Cargo Belgium NV. In 2016, the Rurtalbahn Cargo GmbH was renamed RTB Cargo GmbH. In the same year after the renaming, RTB Cargo opened an office in Bergheim near Salzburg so that it could also operate in Austria. In the meantime, a company location has been established in the Netherlands, which now includes the following railway companies RTB Cargo:
- RTB Cargo GmbH
- RTB Cargo Austria GmbH
- RTB Cargo Netherlands BV
- RTB Cargo Belgium NV
The above companies complement each other in international freight transport in order to ensure increased competitiveness in rail freight transport .
