The Smurfit Kappa Group plc is an Irish company in the packaging industry . On the European market, Smurfit Kappa is No. 1 for packaging made from corrugated board , corrugated base paper and solid board . The company is No. 2 on the world market in the production of corrugated cardboard packaging. It is active in 21 European and 11 American countries. It has 34 paper mills , of which 27 produce corrugated base paper, 229 packaging plants, 50 recycling sites , 31 other plants and 103,000 hectares of forest in Latin America. Smurfit Kappa employs over 5,000 people at over 30 locations in Germany, making it Germany's largest manufacturer of packaging made from corrugated board, solid board and cardboard, as well as corrugated base paper.
