The Standard Life plc is a globally active British insurance group. With around 200 billion euros in assets under management , it is in the range of Allianz SE without subsidiaries such as B. Allianz Lebensversicherungs-AG. The former mutual insurance association has been selling products for private and company pension schemes since 1996 with an agency in Germany, and since 1999 in Austria (Graz) with one of the affiliated German agencies. According to its own information, it has around 450,000 customers in both countries.

The company's board of directors has proposed to the members of the mutual insurance association that the company form be converted into a stock corporation , i.e. demutualization . At the extraordinary general meeting on May 31, 2006, a vote was taken, with a majority of 98% in favor of demutualization (necessary: 75%). Standard Life went public on July 10, 2006. Since then, Standard Life plc has been listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) on the Main Market and is part of the British stock exchange index FTSE 100 .
