Sage Group is a UK based software company based in Newcastle upon Tyne . The company was founded in 1981 and is listed in the FTSE 100 share index.

The group is one of the largest providers of business software for small and medium-sized companies worldwide . In Germany, the Sage Group is represented by Sage GmbH . The company's headquarters are in Frankfurt am Main. Other locations are in Donaueschingen, Mönchengladbach, Leipzig and Munich. In Germany, with around 250,000 customers, 1,000 partners and 780 employees, the company is one of the market leaders for business software and services in German medium-sized companies.

Products

The Sage GmbH portfolio consists of software solutions for order and accounting , finance , ERP and merchandise management as well as HR and payroll for small and medium-sized companies. The IT systems are suitable for the service , trade , manufacturing , craft , public administration , health and social services sectors . The focus of the portfolio is the Sage Business Cloud. It integrates applications from accounting for small companies to sophisticated complete ERP solutions (including financial management) and industry-specific software for larger medium-sized companies.

Small businesses

  • Sage 50 : Commercial software for small businesses, especially for the areas of order processing and financial accounting (including digital receipt recording, accounting as well as dashboards and various reporting functions). Additional modules such as online banking, e-invoices , search function or an audit archive can also book a paid extensions. Mobile use via smartphone or tablet is also possible via an additional module.
  • Sage 50 Handwerk : Complete solution for office and administrative work specialized in craft businesses. The scope of services of the basic version includes user administration, address and article master data , project administration, cumulative projects, offers, measurements , orders, accounting , MS Office & Outlook integration and various interfaces . Control center (display of important key figures on the start screen) and document management system (DMS) as optional chargeable extensions possible. Receipts can be scanned and assigned via the app. DATEV interface available.
  • Sage Business Cloud Payroll: Cloud-based payroll solution with a range of functions tailored to the needs of small businesses, start-ups and freelancers . Core functions are: administration of employee data (the system processes data from 10 to 100 employees), reporting and the creation of pay slips. Access to system data in the cloud is also possible for tax advisors . The software includes a vacation and absence planner as well as absenteeism recording for employees . The system can be operated via a mobile app from a smartphone or tablet.
  • Sage Business Cloud Accounting : Cloud-based accounting software for the self-employed, start-ups and small businesses. Core functions are: preparation of offers, invoicing (also taking time sheets into account) and bookkeeping / finances (including evaluations and reports). Data exports to external accounting or tax advisors are possible. However , users can also transmit the advance VAT return to the tax office themselves via XML export.

Company history

The Sage Group entered the German market in 1997 with the takeover of Frankfurt-based KHK Software AG, a provider of commercial PC software. The company initially operated under the name Sage KHK in Germany. From 2004 to 2016 it was run under the name Sage Software GmbH . Then the company name was changed to Sage GmbH. The company expanded its presence in Germany through further acquisitions over the years. In 2002 the merger took place with Gandke & Schubert GmbH & Co. KG from Mönchengladbach, a provider of business software for small and medium-sized companies. In the same year the company took over S + P Software und Consulting AG from Leipzig, which specializes in human resource management systems. In 2006, the acquisition of Bäurer GmbH from Donaueschingen, a provider of ERP software, especially for production, manufacturing and trade for medium-sized customers. In 2014, with the takeover of Exact Software Deutschland GmbH from Munich, the company acquired the German payroll division of Exact Holding, making it the second largest payroll provider in Germany.
