history
The company was founded in 1924 by the British university professor Harold Maxwell-Lefroy at Imperial College in London. Maxwell-Lefroy has been researching ways to kill the pied rodent beetle , which at that time had infested parts of the country, including Westminster Hall , since 1920 . The name intended for the company at the time with "Entokill", ie the combination of insect (Greek "Entomon") and control (English "Kill"), was already registered as a trademark, which ultimately led to the derivation of the name Rentokil.
In 1944 Rentokil got into the fight against wood pests.
