history

Until the founding of the forerunner churches

In the municipality, the Würzburg Monastery ( Prölsdorf Office ) and the Ebrach Monastery shared power. In what is now the Fabrikschleichach district, there was initially a Würzburg glassworks , which was set up by Balthasar Neumann , among others . Since the areas of the monastery did not come to Würzburg in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss , its possessions fell to the Grand Duchy only in 1810 when the borders were adjusted (those of the Würzburg Monastery as early as 1805). In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , the municipal edict of 1818 created several independent municipalities.

Origin of name

The municipality name is derived from the river Rauhe Ebrach, on the upper reaches of which most places are located.

Incorporations

Today's Rauhenebrach was formed in the course of the municipality and district reform on July 1, 1972 through the voluntary amalgamation of the then independent municipalities Falsbrunn, Fürnbach, Geusfeld , Karbach, Koppenwind, Obersteinbach, Theinheim, Untersteinbach and Wustviel . On May 1, 1978, the Prölsdorf market was added.

Kilian oak
tribe

The since 1935 as a natural monument designated and in the prominent list and old tree specimens registered English oak stands above the town in a narrow strip of forest. According to tradition, the area around the oak is said to have served as the preaching place of the Franconian Apostle Kilian . The tree grows on a steep drop about one meter high, whereby the trunk has adapted to the edge of the rock. In terms of cross-section, the trunk is extremely wide in one direction, narrow in the other and steeply inclined towards the top of the slope. The roots wrap around the rock to find support and reach down to the side of the valley, an unusual sight. A large branch is closed by a sheet metal cover. The crown has several almost dead branches and is not in particularly good condition.
