The parish village is located on the eastern foothills of the Steigerwald in the valley of the Rauhen Ebrach at an altitude of 254  m . Two kilometers to the north rises the Distelberg (370 m) and south of the Mainberg (371 m), both witness mountains of the Steigerwald. The Regnitz and Main-Danube Canal run four kilometers to the east .

The Franconian Marienweg runs through the village .

history

The fertile valley of the Rauhen Ebrach was already settled in prehistoric times. Directly to the east of the exit from the village, near Rattelshof, there was an approx. Three hectare settlement from the Urnfield Period and the Middle to Late Latène Period , which is protected as a ground monument. On the summit of the Distelberg there was an early medieval rampart that extended over an area of 1.5 hectares. From there the valleys of the Rauhen Ebrach and the Aurach could be seen almost up to their confluence with the Regnitz. There are also a number of medieval pings on the Distelberg, some of which continued into the early modern period.

The parish church of St. Otto was built between 1613 and 1615 by the Scheßlitz master builders Jakob and Johann Bonalino under Prince-Bishop von Aschhausen . The parish of Reundorf was founded in 1764 by Johann Michael Dotter Weich and confirmed by Prince-Bishop Adam Friedrich . Around 1781 the church was enlarged by Johann Jos.

The Bavarian original cadastre shows Reundorf in the 1810s with over 60 hearths around the church with its walled cemetery , as well as the mill with three water wheels on the Ebrach. Not much has been preserved in Reundorf's historical building fabric. In addition to the church, only a part is "1908" the former mill is protected as a monument. The historic cemetery by the church is also no longer occupied. A new cemetery is at the western exit of the town.

Until it was incorporated on May 1, 1978, Reundorf was an independent municipality.
