history

The original feudal lord was the Hochstift Würzburg . In 1249 Hermann and Eberhard von Stolzenrode were mentioned in a document, who had named themselves after their manor in Stolzenroth. In the Würzburg fief book of 1303, the ministeriales of Nainsdorf were recorded as lords of the castle . At that time, the moated castle was the inheritance of Konrad Stuchs and his brothers. In addition to the Nainsdorfers, Konrad von Egloffstein and Brunward Küchmeister were fiefdoms in the place. In the period that followed, the Egloffsteiners were able to expand their property. From the first half of the 14th century, the Bamberg monastery also had feudal claims in Stolzenroth, and in the middle of the 15th century Brandenburg-Kulmbach was also wealthy in the town. The Egloffsteiner claims went to the Lords of Zedtwitz . The castle was heavily damaged during the Peasants' War . In 1529 the Truchseß von Pommersfelden acquired the castle and the associated farm, and in 1563 the Seckendorff possessions as well. In 1710 the Counts of Schönborn inherited their claims from the Truchseß von Pommersfelden.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 17 properties in Stolzenroth (1 courtyard, 4 estates, 9 Sölden , 2 houses) and a community shepherd's house. The high court , the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties exercised the Schönborn rule of Pommersfelden .

As part of the community edict, Stolzenroth was assigned to the Steppach tax district, which was formed in 1808 . In the same year the rural community Steppach was formed, to which the place belonged. In the voluntary jurisdiction and local police, the entire place was subordinate to the Pommersfelden Patrimonial Court (until 1848).

In the course of the regional reform in Bavaria , Stolzenroth was incorporated into Pommersfelden on May 1, 1978.
