The church village is surrounded by arable land and grassland. In the east lies the Steinig corridor, Kulm in the southwest and Strut in the northwest. The Limbach rises near the village , a right tributary of the rich Ebrach . Immediately north of the village is the Hirtensee, which is fed by a right tributary of the Limbach.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1109 as "Lintpach". In 1158 the place was owned by the Münchaurach Monastery . A Birkach farm outside the village belonged to Michelsberg Monastery . In 1431 this was assigned to Münchaurach. There has been a church in the village since 1200. With the secularization, Limbach was subordinated to the margravial monastery office Münchaurach . The high court exercised the margravial office of Liebenau . In 1724 the Liebenau office came with all its affiliations to the Elector and Prince-Bishop Lothar Franz von Schönborn .

At the end of the 18th century there were 29 properties in Limbach. The high court exercised the Schönborn rule in Pommersfelden . It had to be delivered to the Bamberg center of Bechhofen . The village and community rulership was held by Pommersfelden. The landlords were the Bamberg cathedral chapter (2 courtyards), the Pommersfelden dominion (1 courtyard, 7 estates, 12 Sölden , 4 houses) and the parish of Mühlhausen (1 Sölde). Two houses and a parish hall were buildings used by the community.

As part of the municipal edict, Limbach was assigned to the Pommersfelden tax district . In 1818 the rural community Pommersfelden was formed to which the place belonged. In voluntary jurisdiction and the local police, the place was subject to the Pommersfelden Patrimonial Court until 1848 .
