The goat oak is a registered natural monument in the municipality of Wennigsen (Deister) in the Hanover region .
The pedunculate oak standing at the edge of the Deister forest bears the number ND-H 8 in the directory of Lower Saxony natural monuments . It gained importance and the protective purpose derived from it due to its trunk size and age of estimated 400 years. In the meantime, their crown has shrunk due to storm damage. It is located in the Wennigs district of Waldkater , 150 meters southeast of Hülsebrinkstrasse on the extension of Münder Heerstrasse in the Norddeister landscape protection area .
It is characterized by Friedrich Wüllner in his home history published in 1973. Its name is said to come from the fact that goatherds used to rest in its shadow.
