Paulo Emilio Silva Azevedo , called Paulo Emilio (born December 14, 1969 in Salvador da Bahia ) is a former Brazilian beach volleyball player .

Career

Paulo Emilio started his international career in 1991 with Paulão . The duo won the open tournaments in Lignano Sabbiadoro and Enoshima in 1992/93 . During an interlude with Zé Marco , Paulo Emilio achieved third place in front of a home audience in Rio de Janeiro . In 1997 Paulão and Paulo Emilio won the Alanya Open. They then competed at the first World Cup in Los Angeles and won the bronze medal.

At the 1999 World Cup , Paulo Emilio could not confirm the success with his new teammate Fred and came in 41st place. In 2002 and 2003 he played again with his old partner Paulão and reached fifth place in Fortaleza . The world championship in Rio de Janeiro ended for Paulo Emilio and Fábio Luiz Magalhães in the first main round with a defeat against their compatriots Harley and Franco .
