Targeter (shooting sport)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zieler ( Ziler , Züller or Ziller ), also pointer called, was an early in use Office in shooting sports competitions of shooting clubs. His task was to record the hits after individual rounds during the pauses in fire and to indicate them to the shooters on the target with the help of a pointer.

He also wore a particularly brightly colored robe so as not to be overlooked. While shooting, he took cover in a special little shed or man-high trench below the shooting level. He indicated the shooting results with a specially designed trowel, the "Toni", and said the results according to the recorder. Because of the reliability of the shooting results, the target was sworn in specifically for their office until the 18th century.

Due to the newer technology such as cable systems for the targets or electronic hit evaluation, the target is only occasionally used in competitions at the level of the district championship, where no other option is available or for traditional reasons, such as in Switzerland.

The pointers of Switzerland are organized in the Swiss Association of Pointers and Plant Managers. Its logo presents the traditional pointing instruments of the target (pointer).
