The target assignment radar TPS-1E (ZZR) is an omnidirectional pulse radar device that was used in 24 units by the air and anti-aircraft troops of the Swiss Army from 1958 to 1989 .

history

It was procured for the heavy anti-aircraft departments in the late 1950s. Target data was transmitted to the gun batteries by telephone or radio. With the radarized batteries for the fire control radar Mark VII , whose parallax computer Meta took care of the data conversion into local coordinates. In the other heavy flak batteries, the data were used for manual targeting.

From 1963, the ZZR was used in the medium-sized air defense system together with the new Operations Center 63 for the same task. After the introduction of the fire control devices 75 Skyguard , the devices and crews were used in the new mobile aviation radar companies until the takeover of the TAFLIR systems in 1989.
