Zigula (Chizigula or Kizigula) is the language of the Zigula people in the Tanga region in northeastern Tanzania .
It is one of the Bantu languages and is closely related to the neighboring languages Ngulu , Bondei , Shambaa , Doe and Kwere .
Zigula is spoken by around 355,000 people in Tanzania. Many of them also use Swahili .
In Somalia, descendants of Zigula, who were brought there as slaves in the 19th century, still speak the Zigula language, which is also known there as Mushungulu ( see also : Somali Bantu ). Estimates of the number of Zigula / Mushungulu speakers in Somalia for 1992 range from 20,000 to 50,000.
