Zimbabwe Airways is a Zimbabwe national airline that has been developing since 2017 and is based in Harare . It is to replace the financially distressed Air Zimbabwe . The merger with this was planned for a time.
Zimbabwe Airways planned to purchase four Boeing 777-2H6 (ER). One machine was sold elsewhere due to default in payment prior to delivery to Zimbabwe Airways. Zimbabwe Airways owns (as of November 2018) aircraft with the aircraft registration numbers 9M-MRQ , 9M-MRP and 9M-MRM , all three aircraft were previously in service with Malaysia Airlines . A second machine ( 9M-MRM ) was also not paid for in December 2018.
The company has not owned any aircraft of its own since January 20, 2020.
