from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zimpel-Tauer , in Upper Sorbian Cympl-Turjo , was a community with about 250 to 300 inhabitants in the eastern Upper Lusatia between Niesky and Hoyerswerda south of the railway line Węgliniec – Falkenberg / Elster connecting these two cities .

In 1956, a third of the community's population still spoke Sorbian ; meanwhile the language has largely disappeared from everyday life there.

On September 30, 1928, the rural communities Zimpel and Tauer were merged under the name Zimpel, on March 8, 1933 the name was changed to Zimpel-Tauer. In 1973 Zimpel-Tauer was incorporated into Klitten . Both localities received the district status, which means that the double name is no longer in use.

Due to the geographical proximity and the small size of the town, the joint survey of the population was already carried out in the late 19th century.
