The Cistercian Abbey Binderen was 1237-1648 a monastery of Cistercian nuns in Helmond , North Brabant , in the Netherlands .

history

In 1237, the imperial widow Maria von Brabant founded the nunnery of Sancta Maria de Valle Imperatricis (also: Locus imperatricis ) in Binderen near Helmond in memory of Emperor Otto IV , which became Cistercian in 1246 and existed until 1648. Since 1941 there is a Marienkapelle, which was created by converting the former sheep pen. The entrance gate sold to Lieshout was rebuilt in copy.
