Paul Rauchfuß
Paul Rauchfuß (born November 2, 1902 in Stollberg / Erzgeb. , † 1966 ) was a German teacher , musician and cultural functionary who made lasting merits by cultivating music and developing amateur folk art in the Ore Mountains . Through his work he brought the values of culture closer to large parts of the village population.
Life
He came from the north-western Ore Mountains and attended the teachers' college in Stollberg / Erzgeb., Where he a. a. Student of the Nestor of Music Education, Johannes Schumann , was. In 1923 he passed the school leaving examination and then worked as a teacher in Niederdorf, Neuwürschnitz and Stollberg. From 1954 to 1965 he worked at the secondary school in Neuoelsnitz, named after the activist Adolf Hennecke . There he was appointed shop steward for the Education and Training Union.
Immediately after the end of the Second World War, Paul Rauchfuß was the first to organize several solidarity concerts of the people's solidarity , in which he himself actively participated. When the SED began to organize its own cultural celebrations in 1956, Paul Rauchfuß supported this project from the start.
Since it was founded in 1946, Paul Rauchfuß was chairman of the Niederwürschnitz branch of the cultural association for the democratic renewal of Germany . Due to his services in the musical field, he became a member of the Kulturbund district leadership in Stollberg / Erzgeb. He also worked as a cantor of the Niederwürschnitz parish and played in the chamber trio , where he devoted himself only to serious, but also to cheerful and dance music. In the rural communities of Niederwürschnitz, Erlbach-Kirchberg and Ursprung he was the leader and conductor of the three local folk choirs.
