history
Santa Maria de Montsant
After the place in the Serra de Montsant west of Albarca had been developed by hermitages since the 12th century, the Santa Maria de Montsant monastery was founded in 1210 and the Cistercian nuns from the Vallbona monastery settled it . Although the place was abandoned after five years, the (several times renewed) chapel still stands today and is known under the name Ermita de la Mare de Déu del Montsant (Hermitage of Our Lady of Monsant). Santa Maria de Bonrepòs
The nuns who moved out of Santa Maria de Montsant founded the monastery of Santa Maria de Bonrepòs ("Maria for good rest") east of La Morera de Montsant in 1215 , which existed there until 1452, always in a certain neighborhood to the Carthusian monastery Escaladei west of La Morera . Margarita von Prades, widow of King Martin I of Aragon , was abbess of the monastery from 1428 to 1429. Today there is the Mas de Sant Blai courtyard (near the Barranc de Sant Blai ), in which the remains of the monastery chapel are built. ( Location )
