history
In 1519 Catherine van Oppendorp donated the Notre-Dame de La Vignette monastery (also: Onze-Lieve-Vrouw ten Wijngaert or In Vineis , "Maria Weingarten") in Mechelnstrasse in Leuven , which was settled by the Cistercian Abbey of Wauthier-Braine . The monastery was closed in 1798 by the French Revolution and mostly dismantled. Today a restaurant bears the name “La Vignette” (without any memory of the monastery).
