Lombez Cistercian Convent
The Cistercian convent Lombez (also: Saint Bernard de Lombez ) was a convent of the Cistercian women in Lombez , a municipality in the Gers department in France , from 1628 to 1790 .
history
Born in Bordeaux , the Bishop of Lombez, Jean Daffis (1604–1657, Bishop 1628–1655), founded the Cistercian priory of Saint Bernard in 1628 in Lombez . The first prioress of the St. Bernard sisters was Marie de Gombault, who also came from Bordeaux. In 1640 the monastery accepted nuns from the Saint-Sigismond monastery in Orthez , and in 1761 the nuns from the dissolved monastery Rieunette . It existed until it was dissolved by the French Revolution .
