Cistercian convent of Orienten
The Cistercian convent Orienten was a convent of the Cistercian sisters in Rummen from 1234 to 1840 , today in the municipality of Geetbets , province of Flemish Brabant , Archdiocese of Mechelen-Brussels in Belgium .
history
Arnold VII von Loon founded the Orienten Monastery in Rummen, north of Sint-Truiden , in 1234 . Throughout its history, the monastery was ravaged, then closed and dismantled by the French Revolution . According to Peugniez, the nuns stayed until 1840.
