In 1970 the monastery burned down. In 1974 the convent changed to Villarcayo (near Medina de Pomar ) while retaining the monastery name . There it was dissolved in 2008 due to a lack of appeals. The last remaining nuns went to the Calatravas monastery in Burgos . Vileña Monastery was part of the Cistercian Congregation of San Bernardo (CCSB) . In the street Calle del Convento in Vileña only the foundation walls with a few arches are left ( location coordinates: 42 ° 37 ′ 16.3 ″  N , 3 ° 19 ′ 18.7 ″  W ). The former monastery building still stands in Villarcayo ( Carretera de Medina ).
