Zoë Pollock (* in Peckham , London ) is an English pop singer who was successful as Zoë in the early 1990s .

biography

Zoë had her first chart success with her debut single Sunshine on a Rainy Day , which was in the English charts for five weeks in November 1990 and reached number 53. The final breakthrough came in August 1991, when a remix of the song even climbed to number 4 in the UK charts and thus became one of the 20 best-selling singles of 1991 in Great Britain.

The follow-up single Lightning rose three months later in the singles hit parade, but with 37th place could not build on the success of Sunshine on a Rainy Day . After the associated album Scarlet Red and Blue was only placed at number 67 in the charts for one week in December 1991, Zoë only managed to jump into the UK charts once, but the release Holy Days was also at number 72 in February 1992 only moderately successful.

After a long break, the single Hammer and the album of the same name were released in 1996 . Both were largely ignored. In 2002 Zoë was a guest singer on the Silverspin project's single Oh Superman . In 2008 she released an EP limited to 400 copies with a mixture of folk , rock and world music under the pseudonym Hepzibah Broom.
