Zoolook is the eighth music album by French artist Jean Michel Jarre and was released in 1984. It is his seventh concept album on which voices can be heard for the first time. However, these were largely cut into small pieces and severely alienated.

Specialty

Jarre made massive use of the then new sample technology in Zoolook by cutting up voice recordings of different people into small sequences , alienating them and using them as sound objects. A list of the languages used can be found in the booklet . In addition, vocals were used for the first time in a Jarre album, which was contributed by the performance artist Laurie Anderson . However, understandable text was omitted. The use of guest musicians was also new.

Zoolook is Jarre's first release, which was immediately available on CD in addition to the LP . In addition, according to the SPARS Code, it was a completely digital recording and processing (DDD). Contrary to this, the remastered edition from 2015 printed the note New mastering from the original analog tapes .
