Addition time

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The additional time is part of a signal schedule of a traffic light system and can be used to secure traffic turning left. It denotes the time between the end of the yellow period for rush hour traffic and the activation of the green arrow . In order to increase the safety of left-turn maneuvers, the additional time at busy intersections is added to the signal schedule. During this extra time, left-turners can turn without oncoming traffic, which means that oncoming traffic has a red signal. During the addition time, other incompatible traffic flows (pedestrians) are not released.
