The Zukin is a helmet from Japan.

description

The Zukin is a lightweight helmet or armored cap from Japan. There are different variants, named for the type of armor they have. The Kusari-Zukin has armor made of chain armor , the Karuta-Zukin has armor made of plates, and the Tatami-Karuta-Zukin has a mixture of chain and plate armor that is foldable. It consists of a fabric cap that is available in different lengths. Some versions reach just above the ears, others over the shoulders. These helmets were used to be worn under other clothing or under heavy armor (yoroi). The chain weave but also the plate armor is very fine and filigree in contrast to normal armor of this type . It is attached to the head with the help of a strap under the chin.
