Zulkiflee Anwar Haque

Zulkiflee Anwar Haque (born May 15, 1962 in Gurun , Kedah , Malaysia) is a Malaysian cartoonist who publishes under the stage name Zunar .

Life

Zunar made a name for himself as a caricaturist from 1973, and his drawings were printed in the press. In 1998 he joined the Reformasi movement founded by the disempowered politician Anwar Ibrahim and has criticized the government ever since. He is close to the Democratic Action Party (DAP). Currently (2016) his cartoons are not allowed to be printed in Malaysian newspapers. His books are on the index and cannot be sold in bookstores.
