Zupaysaurus ("devil lizard") is a genus of theropod dinosaur from the Upper Triassic of South America.

Arcucci and Coria first described fossils of Zupaysaurus from the Argentine province of La Rioja in 2003 . It is counted among the Coelophysoidea , fossil evidence comes from the Upper Triassic ( Norium ).

Like its cousin Dilophosaurus from the Lower Jurassic , it also had two thin, crescent-shaped bone ridges on its skull. However, its arms were shorter in proportion to its length of 4 meters than that of Dilophosaurus . Its weight is uncertain. The estimates are between 50 and 200 kilograms. Its height was almost 1.5 meters. The part of the name “Zupay” comes from Quechua , an indigenous language of the Andean region of South America.
