Provincial insane asylum Neustadt in West Prussia

The provincial insane asylum Neustadt in West Prussia was located in Neustadt an der Rheda northwest of Danzig . It was opened on October 10, 1883 as the second institution of its kind in the province of West Prussia . The first institution of this kind was the Provincial Insane Asylum Schwetz , later the Provincial Insane Asylum Conradstein was added by Pr. Stargard . The design came from Martin Gropius and Heino Schmieden . The construction costs amounted to 1,440,000 marks. The building complex consisted of 15 buildings, plus 100 hectares of land, as the patients were also employed in agricultural work. Became first directorRichard Maximilian Kroemer (1849-1911).
