Second General Staff Officer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The second general staff officer or Ib was responsible for supplies in the higher staffs of the Prussian-German army and the Wehrmacht . The quartermaster's department was subordinate to the second general staff officer for this purpose . He was responsible for the entire supply of the unit, both for the supply to the front with ammunition, food, food, clothing, etc., as well as for the push to the rear (wounded, prisoners, residual goods, etc.). He had to be constantly informed about the situation and intentions of the leadership in order to be able to make forward-looking suggestions for the supply of the troops and the deployment of the rear services. His tasks also included the deployment and movement of the hawser, road construction, traffic control and air protection in the rear area, keeping a map of the current state of supply, etc. He was supported by so-called specialists who received their instructions from Ib. Successful completion of the war academy was a prerequisite for employment as a general staff officer .

In the Bundeswehr , the G4 corresponds to the second general staff officer.
