Second holy war
The Second Holy War took place in 449 or 448 BC. Instead of. As part of this, the Spartans undertook an expedition against Phocis , seized the Delphic sanctuary and handed it over to the Delphians. As a result, the Phokers lost control of the sanctuary; Delphi became independent again. As early as 448 BC BC, soon after the departure of the Spartans, an Attic army led by Pericles hurried to Phocis, conquered Delphi and restituted the Phocians in possession of the temple.
