Cyclonic rotation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A cyclonic rotation is defined in meteorology as the sense of rotation that arises due to the Coriolis force around an area of low air pressure ( low pressure area , trough ). When viewing satellite images, the air in the northern hemisphere circulates or rotates counterclockwise (in mathematically positive direction of rotation ) and in the southern hemisphere in clockwise direction (in mathematically negative direction of rotation).

If the sense of rotation is reversed, one speaks of anticyclonal rotation .
