The Austrian Football Championship 1915/16 was organized by the Lower Austrian Football Association and contested by its members. There were originally four Austrian championships with equal rights, which were spread across the Austrian heartland , Bohemia , Moravia-Silesia and Poland (Galicia) and thus included all areas of Cisleithania . During the First World War, however, only the first class of the NFV was played as a war championship without relegation.

General

The 1915/16 season in the championship of the first class was held as the second war championship. The Floridsdorfer AC and Rapid were able to pull away just behind. The decision was made in a direct duel at the FAC place two laps before the end. Johann Kraus shot the FAC in the front, Ferdl Swatosch and Edi Bauer soon brought the green-whites onto the road to victory. Although Kraus was able to equalize again, Fredl Swatosch finally scored the championship-winning 3-2 in the second half. A victory that was finally celebrated in the last round at 7-1 against defending champion WAC and brought Rapid the third title as Austrian football champion. The descent remained suspended in the war years.
