Albaredo per San Marco is an Italian commune ( comune ) in the province of Sondrio in the Lombardy region . The municipality with 286 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) was only called Albaredo until 1862. It is located at the entrance to the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi regional park .

The municipality is located in the southwest of the Valtellina in the Bergamasque Alps on the border with the Bergamo province . It extends over the right side of the valley of the Valle del Bitto (also Val Gerola ) including side valleys, an area of ​​18.96 km². The village itself lies at 950  m slm above the Bitto torrent and is completely surrounded by forest. It is located above Morbegno on the northern ascent to Passo San Marco . Since 2011, the Serterio area above the village has also been part of the municipality, which previously belonged to Morbegno.

The neighboring municipalities are Averara ( BG ), Bema , Mezzoldo ( BG ), Morbegno , Talamona and Tartano .
