Alexander Os (born January 21, 1980 in Fauske , Norway ) is a former Norwegian biathlete .
Career
Os, who lives in Tromsø, started biathlon in 1997. So far, Os has won six medals at European Championships: In 2003, he finished second in the 12.5 km pursuit race at the European Championships in Forni Avoltri, Italy . A year later, two silver medals in the pursuit and in the 4 × 7.5 km relay followed in Minsk, Belarus . At the 2006 European Championships in Langdorf -Arbersee, he was European champion in the 20 km individual race and third with the Norwegian relay. In 2007 another relay silver medal followed in Bansko, Bulgaria .
In the 2004/2005 season , Os took part in World Cup races for the first time , with the best placing in the 10 km sprint race in San Sicario , Italy . This season he finished with 34th place in the overall World Cup ranking. His best individual results so far were three second places, twice in a sprint, once in an individual race. After Alexander Os in quadruple triumph just under running past a single medal of the Norwegians in the sprint race of the 2009 World Cup in fourth place, his first time succeeded in the subsequent pursuit competition in third the leap onto the podium at a World Cup. Alexander Os took part in the 2010 Winter Olympics. His best result was 28th place in the individual. It was his only start in Vancouver.
Alexander Os caused a curiosity at the final of the World Cup 2008 at Holmenkollen . He completed his two penalties after the first shooting in the mass start race with just one ski.
Os is one of the few left-handed shooters in the biathlon field. Although Os is actually right-handed, he shoots with the left because he has poor eyesight in his right eye.
After the 2015/16 season , Os ended his career, his last race at the World Cup in Presque Isle .
