About this picture

Böklund ( Danish : Bøglund ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . Böklund is the administrative headquarters of the South Fishing Office . Böklundfeld, Dennholm, Kattbek ( Katbæk ), Lindeberg ( Lindebjerg ), Norderfahrenstedt ( Nørre Farensted ) and Reesbrück ( Risbrig ) are in the municipality.

The average age in 2017 was 44.5 years, which is slightly lower than the average in the Schleswig-Flensburg district of 45.5 years. After the population decreased year after year until 2010, there has been a continuous increase since then. Therefore, a new “Dammbrück” building area is planned for the next few years. In 2020, the municipal council adopted a large-scale local development concept with an investment of several million euros. Business, youth and family support, community care and the quality of life of the older roommates are to be strengthened. To this end, around 30 projects were worked out with citizens, associations and businesses.

As a central place with the official seat "Südangeln", the place offers a basic supply for daily life. There are three local suppliers, a school, daycare center, church, doctors, pharmacy, gas station, car repair shop, snack bar, police, baker, youth center, clubs, event agency, attractive employers (especially in trade and craft), and much more. Unusually much for a smaller but central community.

TSV Böklund offers various sports for young and old. From "Fit while sitting" to children's gymnastics, everything is included.

history

During agricultural work in the fields around Böklund, archaeologically valuable finds from the Stone and Iron Ages were repeatedly brought to light. These were Viking skeletons, pearls, jugs, urns, but also stone spearheads.

The place name, derived from Danish, means beech forest . The place was first mentioned between 1445 and 1450, but is older. The church was built in the early 13th century. Located at the intersection of the roads from Eckernförde to Flensburg and from Schleswig to Satrup, Böklund has developed into the largest town in south-western Angling since the beginning of the 20th century, when it was connected to the last two places by the Schleswig district railway .

politics

Community representation

  • In the local elections on May 6, 2018, the seats were distributed as follows: The CDU achieved an absolute majority with seven seats. The Böklund Free Voters' Association took part for the first time and won four seats. The SSW started with a completely new team and achieved two seats.

mayor

Jürgen Steffensen (CDU) has been mayor of Böklund since 2018.

coat of arms

Blazon : “Divided obliquely by blue and gold on the left. Above a red armored, striding golden lion, below a rooted green beech with fruits. "

The structure of the coat of arms of the municipality of Böklund is based on the coat of arms of the Schleswig-Flensburg district, from which it also adopted the figure of the golden Schleswig lion in blue. The use of the symbol of the superordinate regional authority intends to indicate that the central-local function of the municipality points beyond the purely local area of responsibility. The beech in the lower part of the coat of arms refers to the municipality name (Böklund = beech grove), which in turn proves that extensive beech forests must have existed in the municipality in ancient times.

economy

The meat processor Böklunder Fleischwarenfabrik is located in the village. With over 600 employees, this company is one of the most important employers in the district. Its parent company, zur Mühlen ApS & Co. KG , is also based there. It all started in 1912 when August Peter Christoffersen set up a pig fattening farm and expanded in 1917 because he received major orders from the Navy. In 1924 butter shipping was added and from 1925 meat shipping was added. In 1934 the canning factory was founded in Böklund. Christoffersen developed the first automated packaging of sausages and is considered to be the inventor of the sausage in a jar. In 1970 the company Plumrose took over and for a long time the company was called Böklunder Plumrose . In 1998 the Zur Mühlen Group, which today belongs to Tönnies Holding, takes over.

The Clausen tree and rose school also attracts many people to Böklund. With his 500 rose varieties, Holger Clausen has already won many prizes across Germany and his fields are a feast for the eyes for all visitors when they are in bloom.

In addition, there are numerous other companies, primarily from trade and craft. Due to the continuous strong demand for commercial space, it was decided in 2019 to expand the “Pöttacker” commercial space. 2.2 hectares are available to businesses for expansion or relocation.

schools

The "Auenwaldschule" combines elementary school and community school. The children come from the communities of Böklund, Nübel, Idstedt, Klappholz, Stolk, Struxdorf, Süderfahrenstedt and Uelsby, plus preschoolers from the Schnarup-Thumby area. Today around 170 children attend the Böklund primary school.
