Stapel is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein , which was created on March 1, 2018 through the merger of the municipalities Süderstapel and Norderstapel .

The municipality borders in the district of North Friesland (west) on the communities of Süderhöft , Hude , Schwabstedt , Seeth and Drage , in the district of Dithmarschen (south) on the communities of Hennstedt , Bergewöhrden , Hollingstedt and Delve and in the district of Schleswig-Flensburg on the communities of Erfde , Meggerdorf and Bergenhusen .

Community structure

Stapel consists of the districts of Norderstapel (767 inhabitants) and Süderstapel (1001 inhabitants) (as of December 31, 2016).

politics

By initiated by the municipal councils of the municipalities Süderstapel and Norderstapel referendum , the citizens decided the two communities on September 24, 2017 the merger of the municipality stack. With around 60% each, the residents were in favor of merging the two communities on March 1, 2018. Thus, the previous municipal councils were dissolved with midnight on February 28 2018 and the honor of officials from the two communities ( mayors and community fire chief given birth) of their duties. Since March 1, 2018, an authorized representative appointed by the Schleswig-Flensburg district has taken on the tasks of both the municipal council and the mayor. The municipal council of the municipality of Stapel was elected for the first time in the local elections in Schleswig-Holstein on May 6, 2018 . Of 13 seats, the CDU received 4, the SPD 4, the AfS (Aktiv für Stapel) 3 and the Stapel WGS 2 seats. Only one member of the community council is female. In the constituent meeting on June 18, 2018, Rainer Rahn (SPD) was elected the municipality's first mayor.
