About this picture

Twedt ( Danish Tved ) is a municipality in the Schleswig-Flensburg district in Schleswig-Holstein . Today's municipality has existed since 1969. Buschau ( Boskov , partly also Burskov ), Grumby and Lücke ( Løkkegaarde ) are in the municipality.

Geography and traffic

Twedt is located about eleven kilometers northeast of Schleswig on the Loiter Au, which flows into the Schlei . The federal highway 201 from Schleswig to Kappeln runs through the municipality. The Loiter or Wellspanger Au forms the border to the neighboring communities of Struxdorf, Süderbrarup, Loit and Taarstedt. In the valley of the Wellspanger Au north of Buschau there is the Borreskier ( Borreskjær ), a larger lowland .

history

The Twedt settlement was first mentioned in 1231 in the Waldemar-Erdbuch . The village was partly owned by the Danish king. Later three courtyards and two cottages belonged to the Schleswig Cathedral Chapter. In 1777 the place of the Struxdorfharde (Strukstrup Herred) was subordinated. The older southern part of the settlement is laid out as a round village, the northern part was later built around the new bypassing road. Administratively, the place was subordinate to the parish Tolk in the Struxdorfharde in the Danish time.

The place name Twedt comes from Danish. tved meaning clearing back (cf. old norw. þveit to old north. þeuta , nine orw. tveita , swedish dialectal tveta for cut off). Grumby is also documented in writing for the first time in 1231 via the Waldemar earth book. The place name means village of Grummi , an original epithet that comes from old Danish. and norw. grum in the meaning proud, splendid refers. Buschau ( Boskov od. Burskov ) was first mentioned in 1601 and is curved forest to Danish bue for bow and skov for Forest. The farm name Elkier ( Ellekjær ) is first recorded in 1804 and denotes an alder break in Danish. elle for alder . The Dreiseithof Lücke ( Løkkegård ) was laid out in 1760 as a farm for the Grumby chancellery. Vörbarg was first mentioned in 1804/05 at du Plat ; the name is Low German, going back to angeldän. fyr for pine (pine, New Danish fyrre ).
