Halma plc is a group of technology companies active in the medical , safety and instrumentation sectors . It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is part of the FTSE 100 index.

Business areas

The Halma Group invests in niche markets in four strategic areas: medical products , alarm systems , water treatment systems and security systems for industry and the energy sector .

history

The company was founded in 1894 in the district of Kegalle in Sri Lanka founded as The Nahalma Tea Estate Company Limited. As the plantation later mainly produced rubber , the company was renamed Nahalma Rubber Estate Company Limited in 1937. As part of the nationalization of rubber production, the plantation passed into state administration and the holding company, called Halma Investments Limited from 1956, opened up new business areas. The London-based company was registered as a Public Limited Company in 1981 and added to the FTSE 100 Index of the London Stock Exchange in December 2017 .
