The list of places of pilgrimage contains places of pilgrimage of different religions , which are the goal of a pilgrimage for pilgrims .

The most visited pilgrimage sites worldwide are Hindu and are located in India.

In the Roman Catholic Church, places of pilgrimage require ecclesiastical recognition as such, which is why they are to be distinguished from places of worship.
