Niagara County is a county in the state of New York in the United States . At the 2010 census , Niagara County had 216,469 people and a population density of 160.0 people per square kilometer. The county seat is Lockport .

history
The county was founded on March 11, 1808 as a spin-off from Genesee County . It initially included the area of today's Erie County when it was founded, but this was separated on April 2, 1821.
Three locations have National Historic Landmark status , the Adams Power Plant Transformer House , Fort Niagara, and the Niagara Reservation . 76 buildings and sites in the county are registered in the National Register of Historic Places (as of February 19, 2018).
